
FEASSA 2026: St Cyprian beat Amus 90-85 to book final place
St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde beat Amus College 90-85 in the FEASSA 2026 semi-final and will meet reigning champions ITS Kigali.
St Cyprian High School Kyabakadde defeated Amus College 90-85 in the FEASSA Games Boys’ Basketball 5X5 semi-final in Morogoro, Tanzania, on Friday. The result sends the Mukono-based school into Saturday’s final against Rwanda’s ITS Kigali, the reigning champions.
Kyabakadde established control early, taking the opening quarter 22-13 before adding a 26-21 advantage in the second. That gave them a 48-34 lead at half-time and placed them 14 points ahead entering the second half.
The Ugandan side maintained its grip in the third quarter, edging Amus 17-16 to move 65-50 in front. Amus responded strongly in the final period, winning it 35-25, but Kyabakadde’s earlier advantage proved sufficient to secure a five-point victory.
Amus forward Denli led all scorers with 36 points, while Kyabakadde captain Ichut Agok topped his team’s scoring with 20. Chol Thon Gulani Amani, Daudi Gorge and Charles Chol also made important contributions for the winners.
Kyabakadde had head coach John Omondi back on the bench after his national assignment with Uganda’s under-18 team in West Africa. His team will now face ITS Kigali on Saturday, 22 August 2026, with the Rwandan school standing between Kyabakadde and the Boys’ Basketball 5X5 title.
The semi-final is part of the 23rd FEASSA Games, which have brought more than 8,000 participants from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi. Uganda has also recorded strong results in beach soccer, netball, table tennis, badminton, scrabble, tennis and girls’ softball, while Kenya has won gold in athletics, cross country, rugby, hockey, boys’ scrabble and lacrosse.
