Foreign Affairs Minister, governors set for African Ambassadors golf

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye is expected at the League of African Ambassadors Fundraising Golf Tournament in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The event will bring together diplomats, political leaders, business executives and golfers for a three-day programme beginning on August 28.

Enikanolaiye, a former career diplomat, is listed among the special guests for the tournament. Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno are also expected to attend.

More than 150 golfers are anticipated, while total attendance is projected at about 350 guests. The tournament is intended to raise funds while creating opportunities for African diplomats, government officials, corporate leaders and other stakeholders to discuss continental development.

Participants will arrive on August 28 before the opening game at the Ibom Golf Course on August 29. The finals are scheduled for August 30, with opening and closing ceremonies, fundraising activities and award dinners included in the programme. Akwa Ibom’s cultural heritage will also be presented during the event.

The Ibom Golf Course has been selected as the venue for the tournament and its wider diplomatic and business programme. Its setting in Uyo is regarded as suitable for networking and discussions away from the commercial pressure of Lagos and Abuja. Trophies will be awarded to the best performers in several categories.

The tournament forms part of a broader League of African Ambassadors initiative focused on solidarity, dialogue and cooperation across Africa. Registration and corporate partnership opportunities remain available, while side attractions include return flight tickets to London, Barbados and Ghana provided by Ibom Air, Air Peace and Arik Air.
