Former Super Eagles invitee Anthony Dennis nearing Al Jazira move

Al Jazira are in advanced talks with Göztepe for Anthony Dennis, whose proposed €20m-rated transfer could end the midfielder’s uncertain future.

Anthony Dennis is nearing a move to United Arab Emirates club Al Jazira, with negotiations under way with his Turkish side Göztepe. The midfielder is valued at €20 million, and the discussions are understood to be advanced.

Dennis, who has previously been invited to the Super Eagles, has been linked with a departure from Göztepe since the beginning of the summer transfer window. The talks with Al Jazira could now settle a transfer situation that has remained unresolved for several months.

A proposed switch to Coventry City came close to completion before collapsing. Dennis was also linked with interest from clubs in the German Bundesliga, but Al Jazira appears to be the team prepared to meet the financial demands set by Göztepe.

Göztepe left the midfielder out of their plans to avoid putting a possible transfer at risk. His absence came as negotiations continued and as the Turkish club assessed whether the UAE offer matched its valuation.

Dennis progressed from Göztepe’s youth setup into the senior team last season. His rise to the first team increased his profile and was followed by interest from Coventry, Bundesliga clubs and Al Jazira.

The proposed move would take Dennis to the UAE if the remaining negotiations are completed. For Göztepe, it would represent a significant sale built around a player who made the jump from the academy to the first team only last season. For Dennis, it would end the uncertainty surrounding his next club after the failed Coventry move and the later Bundesliga interest.
