Former WBC champion Raven Chapman returns home after emergency

Former WBC featherweight champion Raven Chapman is back in the UK and has posted her first message since suffering a serious brain injury.

Former World Boxing Council featherweight champion Raven Chapman has returned to the United Kingdom for the next stage of her rehabilitation after a serious medical emergency in Denmark. The 32-year-old boxer also made her first public communication since the incident, saying she was grateful to be home with her family.

Chapman collapsed on July 24, 2026, after completing a demanding training session. She was taken by helicopter to a specialist hospital, where doctors found a brain haemorrhage and swelling of the brain. Emergency surgery was carried out to address the bleeding and reduce the pressure.

The boxer was then placed in a medically induced coma while doctors worked to stabilise her condition. After several days under intensive care and close observation, she was discharged and transferred back to Britain, where her rehabilitation will continue with the support of relatives and close friends.

In her first message since the emergency, Chapman said she felt fortunate to have returned home and to be surrounded by her family. Her relatives have described her recovery as a long process and said she was approaching it gradually, while praising her resolve and positive outlook.

A fundraising drive established to cover her return to the UK, medical arrangements and rehabilitation has collected almost £100,000. The campaign is still open as Chapman faces continuing recovery costs, with supporters contributing messages and donations during the period away from boxing.

Chapman held the WBC featherweight title and has a professional record of 10 victories, two defeats and three wins by knockout. The WBC and boxing supporters around the world have welcomed her progress, although her health remains the priority as she takes the next steps in her recovery.
