Jab Box Promotions sets WBC title card for Naucalpan on Aug 29

David Picasso and Jaqueline Calvo will fight for WBC Silver titles at Jab Box Promotions’ August 29 card in Naucalpan, Mexico.

Jab Box Promotions will stage a boxing gala on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Sala Urbana in Naucalpan, State of Mexico, with two WBC Silver championships at stake. The card was announced by promoter Ricardo Cabañas during the traditional Martes de Café press conference at the Sport & Chips complex in Mexico City.

David “Rey” Picasso will headline the event against Colombia’s Maicol Rincón for the WBC Silver Featherweight Championship. The Mexico City fighter is seeking another step towards a world title opportunity in the division.

Picasso returns to action after sharing the ring with Japan’s Naoya Inoue, a leading pound-for-pound fighter. He did not get the result he wanted from that bout, but said the experience provided important lessons. His stated objective remains winning a world championship with the WBC’s green and gold belt at featherweight.

The co-main event will see Jaqueline “Jackie” Calvo and María Soledad Vargas contest the vacant WBC Silver Super Flyweight Championship. Julián Méndez will also fight for a FECOMBOX regional title, adding another championship contest to the programme.

The card will include the professional debuts of three prospects, although their names were not given in the announcement. Amateur bouts are also planned for boxers from the State of Mexico and Mexico City, linking the professional programme with opportunities for emerging fighters.

The World Boxing Council and its president, Mauricio Sulaimán, are backing the event. Cabañas said the promotion’s aim is to support Mexican boxing and contribute to its continued development, while the WBC expressed support for all the fighters competing in Naucalpan.
