FUFA introduces new football facility classification system

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has launched a nationwide initiative to classify football facilities across the country. This exercise is guided by the 2026 FUFA Stadium Classification Regulations, which divide venues into five distinct categories.

Under the new regulations, all football competitions organized or authorized by FUFA must take place on facilities that have been both classified and certified. This rule applies to all levels of the game to ensure that players, referees, fans, media, and sponsors operate in a standardized environment.

To facilitate this process, District Football Associations must provide data regarding every football facility within their districts. These associations fall under the supervision of the Regional Football Associations, which will oversee the submission of Form F-201 for each venue.

Facility owners, including those operating in the private sector, are encouraged to perform ongoing upgrades to their stadiums. The goal of these improvements is to allow venues to progress into higher classification categories.

At present, the certification process is in its early stages. Only 15 football facilities have successfully undergone the classification and certification process conducted by FUFA.
