FUFA introduces new stadium classification regulations for 2026

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has launched a nationwide initiative to classify football facilities across the country. This exercise is guided by the 2026 FUFA Stadium Classification Regulations, which divide venues into five specific categories.

Under these new rules, all football competitions that are authorized or organized by FUFA must take place exclusively on facilities that have been classified and certified by the federation. This mandate applies to all levels of the game.

To facilitate this process, District Football Associations must provide data regarding every football facility within their jurisdiction. These districts fall under the supervision of their respective Regional Football Associations. The required information must be submitted using Form F-201.

The primary goal of this classification system is to create a standard environment for all stakeholders. The regulations aim to guarantee specific standards for players, referees, fans, media representatives, and sponsors during matches.

Facility owners, including those operating in the private sector, are encouraged to perform regular upgrades to their venues. The objective of these improvements is to allow stadiums to progress into higher classification categories.

At present, only 15 football facilities have successfully undergone the classification and certification process by FUFA.
