Rangers exit Europa League after 1-1 draw with Jagiellonia

Rangers were eliminated from the Europa League in the third qualifying round following a 1-1 draw against Jagiellonia Bialystock at Ibrox on Thursday. The result saw the Polish side progress with a 3-2 aggregate victory.

The Scottish side entered the match trailing 2-1 from the first leg. Lawrence Shankland opened the scoring for Rangers from the penalty spot, marking his first goal for the club. Despite the early momentum, the hosts could not maintain their advantage.

Nik Prelec equalised for Jagiellonia in the 65th minute. The striker rose above two defenders at the back post to head home a cross delivered by Anders Klynge. This goal placed the visitors 3-2 ahead on aggregate.

Rangers nearly found a late equaliser when Bojan Miovski missed a header from six yards out following a cross from Findlay Curtis. The missed opportunity confirmed the exit for the home side.

New manager Derek McInnes saw his team receive boos from the crowd at the conclusion of the match. He has yet to secure a victory in his first four games in charge.

To continue their European season in the Conference League, Rangers must now defeat the Czech side Jablonec.
