Garsfontein recruit three Menlopark players for 2027 season

Garsfontein have secured the signatures of Danie Botma, Dian de Bruin, and Miller de Jager from Menlopark to bolster their schoolboy rugby programme.

Garsfontein have strengthened their schoolboy rugby squad by signing three provincial-level players from Menlopark. Danie Botma, Dian de Bruin, and Miller de Jager will all transfer to the Pretoria school for their matric year ahead of the 2027 season.

The recruitment brings significant talent to different areas of the Garsfontein lineup. Midfielder Danie Botma, who gained attention during the Noord-Suid tournament, joins the backline. In the forwards, hooker Dian de Bruin and second-row player Miller de Jager will add depth to the pack.

These departures represent a loss of quality for Menlopark, who will lose established first XV players across the forwards and the backline. Menlopark must now look to internal development or new recruits to replace the three players before the 2027 season begins.

Garsfontein currently sits in fourth place in the official schoolboy rugby rankings. They trail three Western Cape institutions, Paarl Gimnasium, Stellenberg, and Paul Roos. The addition of these three players is intended to help the school challenge for the top ranking.

The school has built a reputation for producing provincial and SA Schools representatives. By securing Botma, De Bruin, and De Jager, Garsfontein continues to position itself as a primary destination for high-level schoolboy rugby talent in the north.
