Genclerbirligi linked with Kwasi Sibo after Real Oviedo exit
Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo is being linked with a move to Turkish side Genclerbirligi following his departure from Real Oviedo.
Turkish Super Lig side Genclerbirligi has been linked with Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo. The 28-year-old central midfielder is currently a free agent after leaving Real Oviedo on 1 July 2026.
Sibo joined the Spanish club from SD Amorebieta in July 2024, but his status remains unresolved following his exit. While interest from Genclerbirligi has been reported, no agreement has been reached between the player and the Turkish club.
The right-footed midfielder's recent international experience includes the 2026 World Cup. He featured in all four of Ghana's matches during the tournament, starting 75% of those fixtures and playing 69% of the total available minutes. He did not record a goal or an assist during the competition.
Sibo has significant experience in Spanish football, having made 73 appearances in LaLiga2 with two goals and one assist. He also played 26 matches in LaLiga. His previous tenure in England included 20 Premier League appearances for Watford, where he scored three goals and provided two assists.
His professional career began in Ghana with Cheetah FC before he moved to Banants in Armenia in 2017. Since then, he has played for Watford, UD Ibiza, and Betis Deportivo before his time in the Spanish professional divisions.
