Genoa seek €20m sale of Norton-Cuffy to fund Ferguson move

Genoa are looking to sell right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy for €20m to fund the acquisition of Brighton striker Evan Ferguson. The Italian club's ability to improve their squad depends on the departure of the 22-year-old Englishman.

Everton are considered the frontrunners to sign the defender, who is also a target for Hull City. Norton-Cuffy was recently left out of the Genoa squad for a pre-season friendly against Deportivo La Coruna. Manager Daniele De Rossi confirmed the exclusion was related to a potential transfer.

Genoa CEO Diego Lopez has indicated that the club has not completed significant business this summer because they have lacked major outgoing players. The sale of Norton-Cuffy is now central to the club's recruitment strategy. Brighton and Genoa are currently in discussions regarding a move for Evan Ferguson. While a loan deal is being considered, the striker is looking for a return to Italy following a difficult period at AS Roma. Brighton appear ready to facilitate the move to allow the player a fresh start.

Norton-Cuffy has spent two years in Italy after playing for various clubs in England. His move to Everton could address a long-term requirement for David Moyes' side. The defender's current valuation is seen as reasonable for a player who has grown in stature during his time in Serie A.
