Ghana defender David Oduro joins French club Annecy from Barcelona
Ghana left-back David Oduro has left Barcelona for French club Annecy after two years with the Spanish side’s reserve team.
Ghana defender David Oduro, 20, has joined French club FC Annecy after spending two years with Barcelona. The left-back made 23 appearances for Barcelona’s reserve team during the 2025/26 season, scoring once and supplying one assist.
Oduro moves to the Haute-Savoie-based club as he begins the next stage of his development in European football. Annecy are strengthening their defensive options ahead of the new campaign, and the Ghanaian adds another left-sided option to the squad.
The defender started his senior career with Accra Lions, breaking into their first team during the 2022/23 season. He went on to play 50 times in the Ghana Premier League and scored one goal.
His progress at Accra Lions led to international recognition. Oduro has made nine appearances for Ghana across youth and senior football, with eight of those coming for the country’s youth teams and one at senior level.
On August 30, 2024, he became the first Ghanaian player to sign directly from Ghana for Barcelona when he agreed a three-year contract with the Spanish club. He continued his development with the reserve side before completing his move to Annecy.
Oduro is regarded as an attacking-minded full-back who uses his pace to advance from the flank. His ability to combine with teammates, provide width and beat opponents gives Annecy an option capable of contributing to both defensive and attacking phases as he seeks to establish himself in French football.
