Schmeichel praises Ajayi after Hull City’s 2-0 Premier League win

Peter Schmeichel praised Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi after his goal and defensive display helped Hull City beat Manchester United 2-0.

Peter Schmeichel has praised Nigeria international Semi Ajayi for his performance in Hull City’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Manchester United. Ajayi scored the opening goal and helped his side keep United out for the full match.

The defender reacted first inside the penalty area to put Hull ahead. The goal also placed him in the club’s record books as Hull’s first Premier League scorer in nine years.

Ajayi was involved in the second goal as well. The ball came off his head and fell into the path of central defensive partner Noble Mendy, who finished to give Hull a two-goal advantage before half-time.

Manchester United attempted to respond after the break, but Hull’s defence remained organised. Ajayi was central to that effort and helped prevent United from scoring throughout the game.

Schmeichel highlighted Ajayi’s work against Cunha, saying the Nigeria defender made him appear ineffective during the match. The former Manchester United defender also credited Hull’s backline for its performance in both penalty areas.

The result gave Hull a 2-0 win over Manchester United, with Ajayi contributing at both ends of the pitch. His display combined a landmark Premier League goal with a defensive performance that earned recognition from the United legend.
