Ghana goalkeeper Obed Ankrah joins M. Lupeni after Inter Stars exit

Ghana goalkeeper Obed Ankrah has joined Romanian club M. Lupeni on a free transfer from Inter Stars Sb. The move was completed on 24 August 2026, only two weeks after the 22-year-old returned to Inter Stars for a second spell.

Ankrah had rejoined Inter Stars from Hermannstadt on 10 August. His latest switch is his third club change in 2026, following a season that has also included loan spells and a return to his parent club.

The goalkeeper first spent part of the 2025-26 campaign with Inter Stars after arriving from Hermannstadt on loan on 9 February. He went back to Hermannstadt at the end of June, then returned to Inter Stars in August on a free transfer before leaving for M. Lupeni.

His time in Romania has also included a spell at CSC Selimbar. Ankrah moved there from Hermannstadt on 31 July 2025 and returned to Hermannstadt at the beginning of January 2026. He then joined Inter Stars the following month, adding another change to a season in which he moved between several clubs.

Ankrah moved to Hermannstadt from African Talent on 28 January 2025 in a €75,000 transfer. That remains the only recorded transfer fee of his senior career. His moves to CSC Selimbar, Inter Stars and M. Lupeni have been loans, free transfers or the end of loan arrangements.

Born on 22 October 2003, Ankrah has stayed in Romania since leaving African Talent. His route has since taken him through Hermannstadt, CSC Selimbar and Inter Stars before his latest move to M. Lupeni, where he now becomes a Ghanaian goalkeeper at the club.
