Ghana prepares for historic international karting debut in Angola

Ghana is set to make its first official appearance in an international karting event outside the country when three drivers compete in Benguela, Angola, on October 10 and 11. The entry marks a new stage for Ghanaian motorsport and places the country among the participants at the launch of the Karting Africa Championship Series.

Jihad will race in the senior category, while Kloe and Ezra will compete in the junior classes. They will represent Ghana at the Santos Peras Track as the new championship begins building a continental route for young African drivers.

The series launch is intended to help develop the competition before its full rollout in 2027. Ghana’s participation therefore carries significance beyond the two-day meeting, giving its drivers an opportunity to take part in the early formation of a continental karting platform.

The Ghanaian team will compete in helmets carrying the country’s red, gold and green colours, along with the Black Star. The design will place a visible national identity on Ghana’s first official international karting entry.

The delegation’s participation has backing from the National Sports Authority, while the event is being hosted by the Federation of Angolan Motorsport. The Angola meeting will bring together drivers as the championship starts establishing its structure and pathway across Africa.

For Jihad, Kloe and Ezra, the appearance also represents a possible starting point for wider Ghanaian involvement in the sport. They are the country’s first representatives at the event, with their participation intended to help create opportunities for more Ghanaian drivers to compete internationally in the future.
