NPFL: Micheal Ibe closes in on a return to Katsina United
Micheal Ibe is nearing a return to Katsina United after leaving Remo Stars, with the experienced forward seen at the club’s pre-season camp.
Micheal Ibe is close to returning to Katsina United after leaving Remo Stars at the end of his contract. The 31-year-old forward was seen at Katsina United’s pre-season camp this week as discussions over a move back to the NPFL side continue.
Ibe previously represented Katsina United during the 2023/24 season. His earlier spell earned him the club’s Player of the Season award three years ago, underlining his previous impact with the Chanji Boys.
The forward also brings recent league success from his time at Remo Stars. He won the NPFL title with the club two seasons ago before his contract expired and he became available for a return to Katsina United.
Katsina United finished ninth in the 2026 NPFL standings with 51 points from 36 matches. Their record was 14 wins, nine draws and 13 defeats, while they scored 30 goals and conceded 32.
Their recent results have been inconsistent, with two wins and three defeats in their last five matches. They beat Ikorodu City 4-1 and Bayelsa United 3-2, but lost 3-0 away to Rivers United, 1-0 at Bendel Insurance and 3-0 at Enyimba.
Ibe’s possible return would give Katsina United an experienced option in attack as they prepare for the next campaign. Their next listed fixture is away to Enugu Rangers on 30 August 2026.
