Owen Corrigan returns on August 28 for Thunderdome 55 in Perth
Undefeated light heavyweight champion Owen Corrigan returns on August 28 after entering the Australian Top 15, with his opponent yet to be confirmed.
Owen “The Bomber” Corrigan will return to the ring on August 28 at Thunderdome 55 in Perth. The undefeated boxer, who has a 6-0 record, has also entered the Australian Top 15 in the light heavyweight division.
Dragon Fire Boxing will stage the 55th edition of the Thunderdome series at Metro City Arena in Western Australia. Corrigan is the reigning Australasian Light Heavyweight Champion and will be seeking to extend his unbeaten professional record when he competes on the card.
His planned meeting with Cole Smith is no longer in place. Several fighters have suffered injuries before the event, and a replacement opponent for Corrigan is expected to be named soon.
The change has not disrupted his preparation. Corrigan resumed work after taking a break and has continued developing in camp, including sessions with talented fighters as he prepares for his return.
His new national ranking has increased the importance of the bout. Corrigan has welcomed his place among Australia’s top 15 light heavyweights, but regards it as progress towards larger targets rather than the final achievement of his career.
The champion has also taken a respectful approach to the late replacement. He has recognised the fighter stepping in at short notice while maintaining that his task remains to perform in the ring before showing respect after the contest.
Corrigan has credited his supporters for the sacrifices they make around his fights and described them as an essential part of his team. With the Australasian title, a 6-0 record and a Top 15 ranking, he will return at Metro City Arena with his next major career milestone still ahead.
