Young Africans keep door open for Allan Okello after Morocco move

Young Africans president Hersi says Allan Okello will remain welcome at the Tanzanian club despite the Ugandan international’s move to Morocco. Okello is expected to join AS FAR, where he could work again with Portuguese coach Pedro Goncalves.

Hersi’s message leaves open the possibility of Okello returning to Young Africans in the future. The midfielder joined the club early this year and quickly became an important attacking player as the side retained the NBC league title.

Okello scored 14 goals during his spell with Young Africans and also contributed assists. His final appearance for the club came in last week’s Community Shield match against Simba, bringing his short stay in Tanzania to a close.

The move takes Okello back to North Africa after his earlier spell with Algerian club AC Paradou, following his departure from KCCA. At AS FAR, he is set to link up again with Goncalves, a coach who previously worked with him in Portugal.

Young Africans have already brought back Burkina Faso international Aziz Ki, who has been positioned as the direct replacement for Okello. The club’s recent results remain strong, with five consecutive wins recorded against JKT Tanzania, Kitayosce, Azam, Singida Big Stars and Mashujaa.

Young Africans are second in the 2026 Ligi Kuu Bara table after one match, with three points and a 3-1 goal record. Their next league fixture is at home against Coastal Union on August 20, while Okello begins the next stage of his career with AS FAR.
