Ghana’s Black Princesses depart for Poland before 2026 FIFA U20 World Cup

Ghana’s 17-member Black Princesses squad has left Accra for Poland ahead of the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup. The team departed on Sunday with the technical staff for the tournament, which will be held from 5 to 27 September.

The journey follows Ghana’s successful qualifying campaign, which secured their place at the global competition. The squad will now continue its preparations in Poland before beginning its Group C schedule.

Ghana have been placed in Group C with the Republic, Ecuador and France. The group will bring three different challenges as the Black Princesses begin their campaign against opponents from Europe and South America.

The team returned to camp last month at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. That period formed part of the preparations for the tournament and preceded the squad’s move from Ghana to Poland.

Ghana’s recent results show one win, two draws and two defeats in their last five listed matches. They lost 1-0 away to Colombia and 2-1 away to Croatia, drew 0-0 away to England, beat Panama 1-0 at home and drew 1-1 away to Wales.

The Black Princesses will represent Ghana at a tournament featuring leading under-20 women’s teams from around the world. Their qualification and departure place the focus on the Group C fixtures, with the squad now based in Poland for the final stage of its preparations.
