Medeama draw 2-2 with AFAD Plateau in Ivory Coast friendly

Medeama drew 2-2 with Ivorian side AFAD Plateau as their preparations for the 2026/27 season continued in Côte d’Ivoire. It was the fourth friendly of the Ghanaian champions’ camp, taking their record to two wins, one draw and one defeat.

The result came during an intensive training programme designed to prepare Medeama for domestic and continental competition. The Tarkwa-based club are working on match fitness, tactical organisation, attacking cohesion and defensive structure before the new campaign begins.

Medeama’s four-match friendly record includes victories in two games, alongside the defeat and draw. Their recent listed results outside this camp have been mixed too, with wins over Basake Holy Stars, Hearts U21 and Basake Holy Stars, and losses against Hearts of Oak and Berekum Chelsea.

The new season will bring a significant continental assignment, with Medeama drawn to face TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League. Mazembe’s experience in African competition makes the tie an early test for a squad seeking to compete on multiple fronts.

Medeama will also return to Ghana Premier League action during the 2026/27 campaign. Their next listed fixture is an away meeting with Dreams on September 5, giving the club a domestic target alongside its Champions League preparations.

Further friendly matches are expected during the Ivory Coast camp, giving the technical team more opportunities to improve the squad’s coordination and address the weaknesses exposed in the opening games. The draw with AFAD Plateau leaves Medeama with a varied start to preseason as they continue building towards the new season.
