Hamburg Reach Agreement To Sign Super Eagles Forward Terem Moffi

Hamburg have agreed to sign Nigeria forward Terem Moffi from Nice after weeks of talks, with the Bundesliga club beating Turkish competition for his move.

Hamburg have reached an agreement to sign Nigeria forward Terem Moffi from Nice. The Bundesliga club’s offer has been accepted, although the transfer fee has not been disclosed.

Hamburg had been pursuing the 26-year-old for several weeks and faced competition from Turkish side Samsunspor. Moffi had wanted assurances about his starting opportunities and regular playing time, with Samsunspor already prepared to offer those guarantees.

Nice were keen to remove Moffi’s substantial wages from their payroll. The striker remains under contract with the French club until 2027, but the agreement with Hamburg will allow Nice to create room for their efforts to sign Elye Wahi.

Nice had initially hoped to secure a fee close to the €8 million purchase option discussed with Porto during Moffi’s six-month loan last winter. The club has now approved a lower figure, though the final amount remains unknown. Talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over a paid loan had not produced meaningful progress.

Moffi joined Nice in 2023 during a period of significant investment by Ineos. He leaves after scoring 24 goals in 72 official appearances for the club. Since returning from Porto, he has trained consistently through the summer and impressed new Nice coach Olivier Pantaloni and his staff.

Despite that work, Moffi did not play in any of Nice’s pre-season matches. His move to Hamburg now offers the Super Eagles forward a new start in Germany, with the playing-time assurances that became a central part of the negotiations.
