Hertha BSC linked with Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare

Hertha BSC are reportedly considering a move for Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare. The German second-tier club has been linked with the 34-year-old as of 13 August 2026, though no agreement has been confirmed between the two sides.

Asare joined Hearts of Oak from Great Olympics on 24 July 2024. He has used the club as his primary footballing base since that move. The right-footed goalkeeper stands 1.88m tall and has a current market valuation of €200,000.

The goalkeeper has experience on the international stage, having played three matches during the 2026 World Cup. During those appearances, he kept two clean sheets and conceded two goals.

A transfer to Germany would move Asare from the Ghana Premier League. His current contract with Hearts of Oak is valid until 30 June 2027. Because of this remaining contract length, any departure before the expiry date would require a transfer fee rather than a free move.

While the interest from the German side remains a rumour, the potential move would represent a significant step for the veteran shot-stopper. Any successful negotiation would involve a transfer process due to the terms of his existing deal in Ghana.
