Highlanders held to 1-1 draw by Chicken Inn in Zimbabwe PSL

Highlanders drew 1-1 with Chicken Inn in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League on August 19, leaving both teams with a point from Round 25. Never Rauzhi put Highlanders ahead in the 22nd minute before Tyrese Hukupembe equalised from the penalty spot in the 41st minute.

Highlanders started with greater control and created their best openings through combinations involving Mongameli Tshuma, Rauzhi and Benjamin Adeogun. Chicken Inn had Michael Charamba as an outlet on the right, but their early attacks did not seriously trouble the Highlanders defence.

Adeogun created the opening goal after beating his marker on the right and sending in a cross. Rauzhi met the delivery with a header to give Bosso the advantage, rewarding a period in which Highlanders had been the more composed side.

Chicken Inn continued to look for a response before the interval. Their pressure produced a penalty after Nomore Chinyerere brought Man Ykre Hapmo down inside the area, and Hukupembe converted to restore parity before half-time.

The draw leaves Highlanders seventh with 37 points from 25 matches. Chicken Inn remain 10th on 33 points after the same number of games, four points behind their opponents in the table.

The result extended Highlanders’ recent run to one win, two draws and one defeat in their five matches before this game, while Chicken Inn entered the contest with three wins and two losses in their previous five. Highlanders had won against Scotland Mabvuku and MWOS, drawn with Platinum FC and Simba Bhora, and lost to Kariba. Chicken Inn had beaten TelOne, Hunters and Manica Diamonds before defeats by Ngezi Platinum and Hardrock.
