Hull City weigh €12m move for Union Berlin striker Ilyas Ansah

Hull City are considering a move worth €12m for Union Berlin striker Ilyas Ansah. The 21-year-old forward is part of Union’s first-team squad, while Hull sit fifth in the 2026 Premier League after taking three points from their opening match.

The €12m figure is Ansah’s current market value and may indicate what Union could seek if Hull turn their interest into a formal approach. There is no agreement between the clubs or with the player, and Ansah remains tied to Union by contract.

Hull have made a strong start to the season, beating Middlesbrough 1-0 and Millwall 2-0 before drawing 0-0 with Millwall in their most recent listed fixture. They also recorded away wins over Rizespor and Konyaspor, by 2-1 and 3-0 respectively. Their league opener ended in a 2-0 victory, leaving them with three points and a two-goal advantage after one match. Hull are due to visit Coventry on August 29.

Ansah joined Union from SC Paderborn in July 2025 for €4m. He had spent one senior season with Paderborn after moving into their under-19 setup from Siegen in 2022, and his valuation was also €4m when he made the switch to Berlin.

The striker has played once for Union this season, completing the full 90 minutes in the DFB-Pokal without scoring or assisting. He is naturally right-footed and is listed primarily as a centre-forward.

Born in Ludenscheid, Ansah is eligible to play internationally for either Germany or Ghana. He stands 1.97 metres tall, adding another detail to the profile of the player Hull are assessing as they prepare for the rest of their Premier League campaign.
