Isis Sio begins training in Las Vegas after medical coma

Isis Sio has moved to Las Vegas to begin training at what she describes as ground zero. The 19-year-old boxer relocated from North Dakota to Nevada in August to explore the next stage of her career.

This transition follows a serious medical emergency in 2026. Sio was hospitalized after suffering a first-round knockout against Jocelyn Camarillo in California. The injury required doctors to place her in a medically induced coma to prevent brain trauma. Since May, she has been performing mitt and bag work without engaging in sparring while awaiting further medical testing.

Sio is currently visiting various training facilities, including the Mayweather Boxing Club, to evaluate her options. She has not committed to a specific gym or a formal return to professional fighting. While she is training, she has not officially labeled this period a comeback and remains undecided on her future direction in the sport.

Her move to Nevada was made alongside her mother, while her father remains in North Dakota for work but plans to visit frequently. Sio noted the significant change in climate between North Dakota and Las Vegas. She stated that while she is starting from a new baseline, she is carrying the lessons and strength gained from her recent experiences.

Sio has previously traveled to Las Vegas for training sessions before returning to her home state. This move represents a permanent change in location as she evaluates her path forward. She has indicated that she will share her future plans when the time is appropriate.
