Jahmal Harvey scores first-round KO of Keb on Serrano card
Jahmal Harvey stopped Hammet Kowany Keb del Valle in the first round of their lightweight co-feature in Temecula, improving to 4-0.
Jahmal “Hard Rock” Harvey stopped Hammet Kowany Keb del Valle in the first round of their lightweight co-feature on Friday at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California. The victory took the 23-year-old American’s professional record to 4-0, with three wins inside the distance, while Keb fell to 7-3-1 with six knockouts.
Harvey controlled the contest from the opening bell with faster combinations, sharp accuracy and greater power. Keb was unable to establish a rhythm before Harvey found an opening and followed his work with a right cross that sent the Mexican fighter to the canvas and brought the scheduled six-round bout to an early end.
The punch figures reflected Harvey’s dominance. He landed 46 of 84 power punches, connecting at 55 per cent, and found the head 37 times. Keb landed 10 of 44 power shots, with seven reaching Harvey’s head.
The result was the most emphatic performance of Harvey’s short professional career. It also strengthened the case for a more demanding opponent in his next outing, with the ease of the win offering little evidence of how he will respond when an opponent survives his early attacks and forces him into difficult rounds.
Harvey’s amateur record gives him a strong foundation despite having only four professional fights. He won the 2021 amateur world championship and reached the quarter-finals at the Paris Olympics, while also representing the United States at the 2024 Olympics.
The bout was staged as the co-feature on the Amanda Serrano-Lucrecia Manzur card and was streamed free on TikTok LIVE. Harvey’s promotion, MVP, now faces the task of judging how quickly to move a prospect whose amateur experience and early professional results suggest he may be ready for a higher level of opposition.
