Jahmal Harvey wins by second-round KO over Hammet Keb in Temecula

Jahmal Harvey improved to 4-0 after stopping Hammet Kowany Keb del Valle in round two of their lightweight bout in Temecula.

Jahmal Harvey stopped Hammet Kowany Keb del Valle in the second round of their lightweight co-feature at Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, California, on Friday night. The scheduled six-round contest ended when Harvey’s right cross dropped Keb and brought the fight to a close.

Harvey controlled the bout from the opening bell with speed, accurate combinations and sharp power punching. Keb was unable to establish a rhythm before Harvey found another opening in the second round, first hurting him with a combination before producing the decisive punch.

The result moved Harvey’s professional record to 4-0, with three victories inside the distance. Keb fell to 7-3-1, including six knockout wins. Harvey’s performance was his most convincing since turning professional, although the ease of the victory also highlighted the limited test provided by the matchup.

Harvey landed 46 of 84 power punches, a 55 per cent success rate, while Keb connected with 10 of 44. The American landed 37 power shots to the head, compared with seven from his opponent. The figures reflected Harvey’s control and the difference in effectiveness between the two fighters.

The 23-year-old entered the professional ranks with substantial amateur credentials. He won the 2021 amateur world title, represented the United States at the 2024 Olympics and reached the quarter-finals in Paris. Those achievements suggest a fighter whose experience extends well beyond his four professional bouts.

The next step for Harvey will be watched closely as MVP considers his progression. Another opponent at Keb’s level may not test the adjustments required against a more durable and experienced lightweight. Harvey’s early speed and attacking accuracy have been established, while a stronger challenge would provide more evidence of his readiness for established opposition.

The fight formed part of the Amanda Serrano-Lucrecia Manzur card and was streamed free on TikTok LIVE.
