Jeremy Doku signs five-year contract extension with Man City

Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has signed a five-year contract extension with the Premier League club. The deal ensures the 24-year-old remains at the Etihad Stadium until at least 2031.

Doku joined the club from Rennes in 2023 and has since recorded 22 goals and 34 assists across 131 appearances. During his tenure, he has helped the team secure the Premier League title, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Club World Cup. The Belgian international has also earned 48 caps for his country and participated in the recent World Cup.

The winger noted that the playing style of new manager Enzo Maresca was a key factor in his decision to sign the long-term agreement. Doku expressed his excitement for the upcoming season under the Italian coach, stating that the football played under Maresca aligns with what the players enjoy. This development provides a boost for Maresca, who has taken over from Pep Guardiola ahead of the new Premier League campaign starting on August 21.

City director of football Hugo Viana praised the winger's growth since his arrival in 2023. Viana described Doku as a significant talent who possesses the specific characteristics required for a winger at the club. He added that the player brings a unique quality to the squad and is expected to continue his development in the future.
