Kaizer Chiefs build momentum under new structure in 2026 PSL

Kaizer Chiefs are building momentum under a new structure after taking seven points from their opening three matches in the 2026 South African Premier Soccer League. They are second in the standings, with two wins, one draw and no defeats, while their goal record stands at 6-2.

Their latest league result was a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns FC. That followed a 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune United, giving Chiefs a four-point return from their two most recent PSL matches and maintaining their unbeaten start to the campaign.

The early record places Chiefs among the leading sides in the table. The six goals scored and two conceded also give them a positive goal difference, with the defensive record contributing to their position after three fixtures.

Their wider recent form has been less consistent than the league campaign. Before the draw with Sundowns, Chiefs lost 0-1 to Golden Arrows and defeated Kruger United 3-1 away from home. They also lost 1-2 away to Elche, meaning their listed five-match sequence contains two wins, one draw and two defeats.

The unbeaten PSL opening is therefore the clearest measure of the progress being made under the new structure. Their position in second gives that start added significance.
