Katie Taylor’s farewell fight against Flora Pili will be shown free-to-air on RTÉ in Ireland on September 5. The bout is for the undisputed super-lightweight championship, with all major 140lb titles at stake.
Irish viewers will be able to watch the event on RTÉ 2, RTÉ Player and 2FM. DAZN will carry the fight live worldwide, giving Taylor’s final professional appearance an international audience.
The contest will take place at Dublin’s Croke Park, where 80,000 fans are expected to attend. Tickets sold out immediately, underlining the scale of the occasion as Taylor prepares to close her career at home.
Taylor, the London 2012 Olympic champion and a former world champion in multiple weight divisions, is seeking to become an undisputed champion for the third time. She will face an undefeated French opponent in Pili in what is billed as the final fight of her career.
The card will also feature several prominent Irish boxers. Heavyweight Thomas Carty is scheduled to meet Doncaster’s Dave Allen, while Paddy Donovan, the IBF’s top-ranked welterweight contender, will fight Belfast’s Tyrone McKenna.
Dublin’s Emmet Brennan is due to face Britain’s Taylor Bevan in a super-middleweight contest. Molly McCann, who moved into professional boxing after her MMA career, is also part of the programme. The event is being staged by Matchroom Boxing with Aiken Promotions and Brian Peters.
