Katsina United confirms death of Chinedu Ozor after collapse
Katsina United has officially confirmed the death of Chinedu Ozor and debunked social media claims that the player regained consciousness in a morgue.
Katsina United has officially confirmed the death of Chinedu Ozor. The player collapsed during a pre-season friendly match against Niger Tornadoes at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina on Tuesday.
The club's media directorate issued a statement on Wednesday to clarify the circumstances surrounding the player's passing. The management specifically addressed and denied viral social media reports claiming that Ozor had temporarily regained consciousness while in a morgue and was subsequently returned to a hospital.
According to the club, the player never regained consciousness. The statement explained that following the initial incident, Ozor's family requested additional medical checks to confirm his death before his body was moved to the morgue. The club noted that this request for medical verification should not be mistaken for the player being alive.
Katsina United urged the public, bloggers, and media platforms to stop spreading these false reports. The management requested that the football community and the player's teammates and family be allowed to mourn Ozor with dignity.
The incident occurred during a friendly fixture at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium. The club has called for an end to the circulation of inaccurate information regarding the player's final moments.
