Leicester City owners put club up for sale for over £200 million

The Srivaddhanaprabha family has commissioned a US investment bank to find a buyer for Leicester City following successive relegations.

Leicester City's Thai owners have put the club up for sale. The club's assets are reportedly listed at a value exceeding £200 million ($269 million).

King Power, the ownership group run by the Srivaddhanaprabha family, has engaged a major US investment bank to facilitate the sale. This move comes during a difficult period for the club, which will compete in the third tier of English football this season for only the second time in its history.

The Foxes have experienced a sharp decline since winning the Premier League title ten years ago. Following their 2021 FA Cup success, the club suffered consecutive relegations from the Premier League in 2025 and the Championship in 2026. A six-point deduction for breaching Football League profit and sustainability rules last season contributed to their descent into League One.

Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has served as chairman since his father, Vichai, died in a helicopter accident near the King Power Stadium in 2019. After the club's recent relegation, the chairman stated he would take responsibility for the current situation while noting that the club's structure would undergo changes.

Russell Martin's team begins their attempt to secure promotion with an away fixture against Notts County this Saturday.
