Maduro highlights Arokodare's strength as Ajax asset

Former Ajax midfielder Hedwiges Maduro has identified the physical power of Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare as a key factor for the club's success. Maduro believes the Nigerian forward's strength will make him a valuable asset within the Eredivisie.

The 25-year-old joined Ajax on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers following a difficult period that saw the English club relegated to the EFL Championship. Although Arokodare has not scored in his first three competitive appearances, his physical profile has already become a point of interest.

Maduro, who previously served as an assistant coach at the club, noted that Arokodare provides a different attacking option compared to Marcos Leonardo or Kasper Dolberg. He suggested that the striker's ability to act as a focal point is essential when facing teams that defend in deep blocks.

According to Maduro, Arokodare's presence can create space for other players like Leonardo by providing a target to drop the ball to. This tactical utility was visible during a recent appearance against PEC Zwolle, where the former FC Köln player assisted Jorthy Mokie's opening goal.

Arokodare has expressed a desire to secure a starting position to prove his quality, though he maintains that the needs of the team take precedence over individual ambitions. His recent involvement included a 2-2 draw against Shelbourne in the Conference League qualifiers.

Ajax progressed past Shelbourne and will now face Swiss side FC Sion at Stade Tourbillon next Thursday in the final qualifying round.
