Manchester City stall in pursuit of Chelsea winger Pedro Neto

Transfer negotiations between Manchester City and Chelsea for Pedro Neto have reached a standstill due to a significant gap in valuation.

Manchester City have halted their pursuit of Chelsea winger Pedro Neto after failing to reach an agreement with the London club. Negotiations have reached a standstill because of a significant gap between the offer proposed by Manchester City and the valuation set by Chelsea.

Manchester City emerged as unexpected admirers of the Portugal international, entering into competition with Arsenal for his signature. The interest from the Etihad club is linked to manager Enzo Maresca, who previously coached Neto during his time at Stamford Bridge. Maresca views the winger as a potential replacement for Savinho, who is close to completing a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea originally acquired Neto for a total package worth £54 million. His current market value is estimated at €60 million. While the West London club is not entirely dismissing the possibility of a sale, they have no intention of lowering their financial demands for the player.

Chelsea officials believe Neto could play a vital role under their new manager, Xabi Alonso. Because the club is in no rush to sell, a move to Manchester City appears unlikely at this stage.

It remains unclear if Manchester City will increase their bid to bridge the valuation gap. Should the Premier League champions withdraw from the race, Arsenal remain active in the market as they seek to strengthen their left wing options.
