Marseille and Lyon inquire about West Ham's Soungoutou Magassa

Marseille and Lyon have made inquiries regarding West Ham United midfielder Soungoutou Magassa. The two Ligue 1 clubs have asked about the 22-year-old French U21 international as the London club looks to reduce its squad.

While neither French side has submitted a formal offer, interest in the midfielder is significant. Other clubs tracking the player include Juventus, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Galatasaray. Magassa is currently under contract with West Ham until 2031.

The interest comes as West Ham attempts to boost its finances following relegation to the Championship. The club has already secured significant funds through the departures of Crysencio Summerville for €64.5m and Mateus Fernandes for €99m.

Magassa is valued at €17m, which is the same amount West Ham paid to acquire him from Monaco one year ago. This valuation suggests the club could recoup its initial investment if a sale is completed.

However, the likelihood of a deal with Marseille remains uncertain. The club is currently focused on cost-cutting measures and selling players to meet financial regulations. This follows recent friction with Pierre Emile Hojbjerg after he declined a move to Newcastle United.
