Mawuli Wayo has officially started his tenure with Egyptian side El Qanah FC. The 23-year-old attacker featured for his new club in a pre-season friendly following his recent transfer.
The forward joined the newly promoted Egyptian Premier League side after an agreement was reached between El Qanah and his former club, Hearts of Oak. Wayo has already integrated into the squad through training sessions and competitive minutes as he prepares for the 2026/27 top-flight season.
Wayo arrives in Egypt after a successful period in the Ghana Premier League. During the previous campaign, he recorded nine goals across 31 league matches. His performances, characterized by clinical finishing and intelligent movement, facilitated his move to North Africa.
El Qanah secured their place in the top division by winning the 2025–26 Egyptian Second Division A title. The club views the Ghanaian attacker as a vital component of the squad as they attempt to maintain their position in the Premier League.
The departure of the forward leaves Hearts of Oak looking to find a replacement in the transfer market before the upcoming season. For Wayo, the move offers an opportunity to compete in a higher-level league following his productive spell with the Phobians.
