Mick Terrill targets Newcastle knockout against Kamil Sokolowski
Mick Terrill has promised a hometown knockout against Kamil Sokolowski when BKB 60 arrives at Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on October 10.
Mick Terrill has promised to stop Kamil Sokolowski in front of his home supporters when BKB 60 takes place at Utilita Arena Newcastle on October 10. The North Shields heavyweight will headline Bare Knuckle Boxing’s first event in the city since signing a multi-fight deal with the promotion.
Terrill returns to the venue where he defeated Jay McFarlane in March to win the BKFC UK heavyweight title. He is now aiming to use the Sokolowski fight to move towards a BKB heavyweight championship opportunity against unbeaten Cuban champion Gustavo Trujillo.
The 42-year-old’s stated plan is to secure a knockout and then press for a title fight with Trujillo. BKB lists Terrill with an 11-2 record and 10 knockouts. He previously won the BKB heavyweight title at BKB 5 by stopping John Lewis, before defending it against Hari Miles and Josh Burns.
Sokolowski will attempt to halt that route to the championship. The Poland-born heavyweight, who is based in Devon, has a 3-1 record in BKB and has built extensive experience in gloved boxing. His previous opponents include Dillian Whyte, Martin Bakole, David Price, Lucas Browne, David Adeleye, Otto Wallin, Bakhodir Jalolov and Frazer Clarke.
He has also faced BKB contender Mark O’Neil in a close bout. Sokolowski has made clear that he intends to challenge Terrill rather than serve as a supporting opponent, giving the main event a direct test of the local fighter’s title ambitions. BKB has not confirmed that the winner will receive a bout with Trujillo or identified a mandatory challenger.
BKB 60 will also feature a super-welterweight world-title defence. Rolando “Dy Incredible” Dy will put the belt on the line against Scott “The Mute” McHugh. Dy is 6-1 with five knockouts, while McHugh is a three-time world champion, a Bare Knuckle Hall of Fame inductee and a veteran of more than 20 professional bare-knuckle fights.
Former IBF boxing champion Joseph “JoJo” Diaz Jr. is scheduled to compete on the card, alongside unbeaten welterweight Adele Altamimi. Diaz won his BKB debut in July, while Altamimi returns after a Fight of the Night performance at BKB 57 in Los Angeles and a knockout victory in London earlier this year.
