MTN8 2026: Orlando Pirates expected starting XI vs Sekhukhune
Orlando Pirates are set to face Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 semi-final first leg, with a strong starting XI expected in Polokwane.
Orlando Pirates are expected to field Sipho Chaine, Kamohelo Sebelebele, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Lebone Seema and Deon Hotto against Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 semi-final first leg. The match is scheduled for 25 August 2026 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, with kick-off at 15:00.
Camren Dansin and Thapelo Mokobodi are set to form the central midfield partnership. Patrick Maswanganyi is also expected to start, while Oswin Appollis could operate on the right side of the attack if Tshepang Moremi returns to the lineup.
Moremi is included in the projected XI after missing Pirates’ win over Chippa. Yanela Mbuthuma is expected to lead the attack as the lone striker. Mokobodi’s selection would give him another opportunity in midfield in the absence of Thalente Mbatha, while Sihle Nduli is also unavailable.
The full expected Orlando Pirates lineup is Chaine in goal; Sebelebele, Sibisi, Seema and Hotto in defence; Dansin and Mokobodi in midfield; Maswanganyi, Appollis and Moremi behind Mbuthuma.
Pirates enter the fixture top of the South African Premier Soccer League table with seven points from three matches. Sekhukhune are fifth on six points after the same number of games, leaving only one point between the sides in the early standings.
The recent listed form favours Sekhukhune. They have recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five matches, while Pirates have one win, one draw and three losses over the same period. Pirates have also won the MTN8 four times in succession and are seeking a 15th title, adding significance to the opening leg of the two-match semi-final.
