Tyson Fury doubts Anthony Joshua fight as venue dispute grows

Tyson Fury has questioned whether his proposed fight with Anthony Joshua will happen after a dispute over money and the venue remains unresolved.

Tyson Fury has cast doubt on his proposed heavyweight fight with Anthony Joshua, saying negotiations may fail because of a dispute over money and the venue. The long-awaited all-British bout was being discussed for November, but no date or location has been officially confirmed.

Fury criticised Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn in a series of social media posts, accusing them of seeking more money. He also attacked Joshua’s willingness to face him and described the negotiations as another failure to finalise a fight that has been discussed for years.

The main disagreement concerns where the bout should take place. Joshua’s camp has signed for the fight to be staged in the United Kingdom, while Saudi organisers are pushing for a move to the United States. New York’s Madison Square Garden has been considered as a possible venue, with the event expected to be shown on Netflix.

Hearn has confirmed that he sent Sela, the Saudi-owned company linked to both boxers’ contracts, a list of proposed changes. He says Joshua would receive less money if the fight took place in the United States because of different tax arrangements. His requests also cover travel, accreditation and media operations, but Sela had not responded.

The negotiations have also been affected by the emergence of Zuffa Boxing, which is jointly owned by Sela and TKO Group Holdings. Hearn has accused the new organisation of persuading Saudi officials that the fight would attract greater interest in the United States. Fury has said he would welcome Dana White’s involvement in negotiations while maintaining that British boxing still supports a UK venue.

Fury, 38, and Joshua have both held world titles but have never met in the ring. A possible November 20 date in New York has been discussed, yet the financial and venue issues leave the proposed bout unresolved.
