Napoli and Chelsea negotiations for Badiashile at a standstill
Transfer talks between Napoli and Chelsea for Benoît Badiashile have stalled over a €1m difference regarding a buyout bonus.
Negotiations between Napoli and Chelsea for the transfer of Benoît Badiashile have reached a standstill. The two clubs are currently unable to reach an agreement regarding the terms of a potential move for the defender.
The impasse reportedly involves a €1m discrepancy concerning a bonus on the buyout price. While Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has yet to approve this specific amount, the Italian club is looking to secure the player on a loan deal that includes a purchase option.
Badiashile has struggled to secure a consistent place in the Chelsea starting lineup since his move from AS Monaco in January 2023. The 25-year-old has made 71 appearances for the Premier League side, with only 1,070 minutes of play coming during the previous season. The player is reportedly interested in the move to Naples.
Napoli have already identified an alternative should the deal with the Frenchman fail. The club is considering Marseille's Nayef Aguerd, who returned to the Italian side's shortlist after his move to Real Sociedad fell through.
If the negotiations between Chelsea and Napoli do not progress, Badiashile will need to find a new club quickly. Chelsea have indicated they are prepared to allow the centre-back to leave the club this summer.
