Ghana selects 51 players for final U15 World Cup screening

Ghana has identified 51 players for the final screening stage of its National Under-15 boys' team. This selection process is part of the preparations for the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Azerbaijan, which takes place in October 2026.

The final assessment camp will be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram from August 16 to August 22. This group of 51 youngsters remains after a wider identification programme that began on July 17 with 108 players.

Head coach Salifu Fatawu and his technical staff will divide the players into two groups to facilitate closer assessment. The first group of 26 players will undergo training from August 16 to August 19. The second group, containing 25 players, will join the camp on August 19 and stay until August 22.

Technical staff will evaluate the players based on several criteria beyond basic technical skills. The selection process will consider tactical awareness, physical attributes, discipline, and long-term potential to determine who is best suited for international competition.

The upcoming tournament in Azerbaijan offers Ghana's emerging talents a platform to compete against international peers. This final screening camp serves as a critical step in the development of the squad ahead of the 2026 event.
