NPFL: Oyedokun leaves Ikorodu City for Libyan club Al-Afreeki

Tosin Oyedokun has left NPFL side Ikorodu City for Libyan club Al-Afreeki SC after two seasons and 63 appearances for the Lagos team.

Tosin Oyedokun has left Ikorodu City to join Libyan club Al-Afreeki SC, ending his spell with the Lagos-based Nigeria Professional Football League side. The midfielder spent two seasons with the club after helping them secure promotion to the NPFL in 2024.

Oyedokun was among Ikorodu City’s longest-serving players. He made 63 appearances for the club and scored 11 goals during his time with the Oga Boys, establishing himself as an important member of the squad across their rise into Nigeria’s top flight.

The move to Al-Afreeki represents Oyedokun’s first playing experience outside Nigeria. He will join former Kwara United defender Matthew Arinze at the Libyan club, following Arinze’s move there earlier in the week.

Ikorodu City are fourth in the 2026 NPFL standings with 59 points from 38 matches. Their record is 16 wins, 11 draws and 11 defeats, with 42 goals scored and 37 conceded. Oyedokun’s exit comes as the team remains in the leading group of the table.

The Oga Boys have drawn their last three matches against Nasarawa United, Barau FC and Enyimba, with each game producing a 1-1, 2-2 and 1-1 result respectively. Those draws followed defeats by Enugu Rangers and Katsina United, leaving their recent sequence at two draws and three losses.

Ikorodu City’s next listed fixture is a home match against Ranchers Bees on August 30, 2026. The club will continue its NPFL campaign without Oyedokun as it seeks to maintain its position among the division’s top sides.
