Oba Femi, Bron Breakkker battle for WWE’s next-star status

Oba Femi’s position as WWE’s next major star is being challenged by Bron Breakkker, who is seeking the recognition associated with becoming the company’s new leading face. The Nigerian wrestler, whose real name is Isaac Odugbesan, received a symbolic endorsement from Brock Lesnar after defeating the WWE legend at SummerSlam 2026.

Lesnar raised Femi’s hand following that contest, an act that was viewed as a passing of responsibility from an established WWE figure to an emerging one. Breakkker is now pursuing the same standing, creating the possibility of a future contest centred on status as much as competition.

WWE has not formally confirmed a feud between the two wrestlers. However, Breakkker’s reported focus on Femi has increased the prospect of them meeting in the ring, with the winner positioned to claim bragging rights in the argument over WWE’s next face.

Breakkker, 28, performs on RAW under the nickname “Unpredictable Badass” and is regarded as one of the company’s powerful young performers. He is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Rick Steiner and is part of The Vision Alliance, the reigning World Tag Team Champions group, alongside Austin Theory and Paul Heyman after Logan Paul suffered a tricep injury.

His background also gives him a strong record to place against Femi’s rising profile. Breakkker played American football in high school and had a brief spell with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted fullback before returning to wrestling. He made his professional debut in 2016, joined WWE in 2021, spent three years in NXT and moved to the main roster in 2024.

Breakkker is a two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and a two-time World Tag Team Champion. He was also named Wrestling Observer Newsletter Rookie of the Year for 2022. Combat sports columnist Drake Riggs has described Breakkker as determined to regain the position he believes Femi has taken, while also arguing that WWE should separate him from The Vision Alliance and its tag-team commitments.
