Okoye targets Udinese progress ahead of 2026-27 Serie A season
Maduka Okoye says he is ready to give everything for Udinese as the Nigeria goalkeeper prepares for the 2026-27 Serie A campaign.
Maduka Okoye has pledged to give his full effort as Udinese prepare for the 2026-27 Serie A season, with the Nigeria goalkeeper set to continue as the club’s first-choice option.
Okoye enters the campaign after a strong previous season in Italy, when he recorded 10 clean sheets in 30 appearances. His performances have strengthened his status at Udinese, where he has become an important member of the squad since joining the club.
The 26-year-old believes Udinese are ready for their opening fixtures after completing their pre-season work. He said the squad is motivated, focused on its targets and eager to begin competing after several weeks of preparation.
Udinese will aim to improve on last season’s performances, and Okoye has made his personal commitment clear. His focus, he said, will be on serving the club, his teammates and the supporters throughout the campaign.
The goalkeeper has also attracted attention away from football through appearances at Formula One events and fashion engagements. Okoye considers those activities part of his personal branding, but maintains that they remain separate from his professional responsibilities at Udinese.
There have also been changes in the club’s goalkeeping group. Edoardo Piana has returned after Alessandro Nunziante’s departure, while experienced goalkeeper Daniele Padelli remains with the team. Okoye believes the unit has quality, and is looking forward to seeing Piana develop while working alongside Padelli’s experience.
His performances for Udinese could also influence Nigeria’s goalkeeping picture before the September 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches. Okoye will compete with Stanley Nwabali for the Super Eagles’ number one position as the new season unfolds.
