Osimhen moves above Mbappe and Haaland after 4-0 Galatasaray win
Victor Osimhen scored twice in Galatasaray's 4-0 win at Erzurumspor, taking his run to 16 goals since December and above Mbappe and Haaland.
Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray defeated Erzurumspor 4-0 away on Friday, August 21, 2026. The result extended the Nigerian striker’s scoring run to 16 goals across all competitions since December 2025, placing him above Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland during that period.
Osimhen has made an immediate impact at the start of the new season, scoring four times in his first two league appearances for the Turkish champions. His latest double also gave him consecutive braces after he had scored twice in Galatasaray’s opening match.
The 27-year-old opened the campaign on August 14 by scoring both of his side’s goals in a 2-2 draw with newly promoted Corum FK. Against Erzurumspor, he contributed to Galatasaray’s second goal by providing the assist for Yunus Akgun.
Osimhen then benefited from a defensive mistake shortly before half-time, finishing into an unguarded net. He completed his own scoring in the 80th minute, meeting a delivery from Gabriel Sara to make it 4-0.
His 16-goal total since December places him second among central strikers in Europe’s top leagues over that span. Only Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane has scored more, with the England captain on 22 goals for the Bavarian club.
The four goals from his opening two league matches underline the form that has carried Osimhen ahead of Mbappe and Haaland in the scoring comparison. Galatasaray now have a forward producing decisive moments in consecutive games as their title defence begins.
