Juwon Oshaniwa Urges NFF Board Exit, Rejects Fact-Finding Panel

Former Nigeria defender Juwon Oshaniwa wants the NFF board to resign, saying a new committee cannot fix years of football mismanagement.

Former Super Eagles defender Juwon Oshaniwa has called on the Nigeria Football Federation board to resign, rejecting its decision to create a fact-finding committee on the country’s football problems.

The committee was formed to examine difficulties affecting Nigeria’s national teams and the wider administration of the sport. Oshaniwa does not believe another investigation will deliver the change Nigerian football needs.

Speaking to Brila.net, the former international linked the current crisis to years of weak administration and poor management under the existing leadership. He argued that the problems have continued for too long for another review panel to be treated as the main solution.

Oshaniwa’s position is that the board should accept responsibility and leave office. He wants a new leadership team to take control and set Nigerian football on a different course, rather than allowing the present administration to remain in place while the committee carries out its work.

The former defender’s criticism comes during increased pressure on the NFF leadership after a difficult period for Nigeria’s national teams. Supporters of the committee believe it can identify the causes of recent setbacks and propose remedies, while its critics maintain that the main failures are already widely understood.

Oshaniwa was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and also represented Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. His call adds to demands from former internationals and other stakeholders for major changes in the country’s football administration. For him, the priority is immediate action and a change at board level, not another report.
