Paul Merson backs Arsenal for EPL title in top-six prediction

Paul Merson has predicted Arsenal to win the Premier League this season, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United completing his projected top six.

The former Arsenal player placed his old club at the summit and believes the team will claim the title with room to spare. His forecast came before the opening round of Premier League fixtures.

Merson’s expected final order has Liverpool finishing second, followed by Chelsea in third. Manchester City are his choice for fourth place, while Tottenham are placed fifth and Manchester United sixth.

The prediction gives Arsenal the leading position in Merson’s assessment and leaves Liverpool as the closest challenger. Chelsea are the only other club from his top six that he expects to finish in the top three.

Merson also expressed strong confidence in Arsenal’s title prospects, saying he could not identify a weakness in the team in the context of the Premier League. His view is that the club’s main rivals will not be able to prevent them from finishing first.

The forecast would represent a title-winning campaign for Arsenal and a second-place finish for Liverpool. It would also put Chelsea back among the leading three, while City, Tottenham and United would occupy the remaining positions in the European places under Merson’s projected table.
