FC Nordsjaelland back Jamal Sudais to develop into top player
FC Nordsjaelland director Alexander Riget says Ghanaian defender Jamal Sudais can develop into a top player after signing a five-year deal.
FC Nordsjaelland believe Ghanaian defender Jamal Sudais has the potential to develop into a top player after joining the Danish club on a five-year contract. The 18-year-old centre-back will begin his time at the club with the U19 team.
Football director Alexander Riget identified Sudais’ left-footed profile as one of the qualities that attracted Nordsjaelland. The defender is also regarded as comfortable in possession, technically capable and able to play accurate forward passes from the back.
Sudais’ physical attributes were another factor in the club’s decision. Nordsjaelland have highlighted his ability in aerial contests and his effectiveness in one-on-one defensive situations, qualities that form part of the club’s assessment of his long-term potential.
The Danish side does not expect Sudais to move immediately into senior football. Riget believes the teenager must become more consistent, improve his understanding of collective defending and learn the details of Nordsjaelland’s playing style before taking that step.
The U19 setup will provide Sudais with the setting to work on those areas alongside the club’s coaching staff. His development will therefore continue within the academy structure, where Nordsjaelland expect him to build the stability and tactical understanding required at senior level.
Sudais joined the Right to Dream Academy when he was 10 and has already had exposure to Nordsjaelland’s Superliga group. He also took part in a winter training camp with the senior squad in Estepona, giving him an early experience of the club’s first-team environment.
Nordsjaelland view the move as the next stage of a process that began in Ghana. While the club acknowledges that Sudais still has significant learning ahead, it expects his left-footed passing, defensive ability and physical strengths to provide a strong foundation for his progress.
