Poll asks fans to choose Springboks’ No 10 for All Blacks Test

The debate over South Africa’s flyhalf position has been put to a poll ahead of the Springboks’ first Test against the All Blacks at Ellis Park. Manie Libbok and Handré Pollard are the two names being considered for the No 10 jersey.

Libbok began the Springboks’ opening Nations Championship match against England at flyhalf. He also featured against Wales, entering the match as a replacement rather than starting in the position.

Pollard started at flyhalf when South Africa faced Scotland at Loftus. His performance earned him the Man of the Match award, giving him a strong case in the selection discussion before the meeting with New Zealand.

The experienced flyhalf was then used from the bench in Buenos Aires against Argentina. Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu took the starting role in that match after returning from injury.

The poll therefore asks whether the Springboks should return to Libbok, who started the opening Nations Championship fixture, select Pollard after his recognised display against Scotland, or weigh the recent changes in the position before naming the team for Ellis Park.

The choice comes with both players having started one of the relevant matches at flyhalf. Libbok has also been involved from the bench against Wales, while Pollard’s most recent appearance was as a replacement against Argentina. The result of the poll will reflect the preference over who should wear No 10 against the All Blacks.
