Premier League club makes official bid for Fenerbahce striker

An unnamed Premier League side has submitted an official offer for 19-year-old Fenerbahce forward Sidiki Chérif, with Ipswich and Coventry linked.

An unnamed Premier League club has submitted an official bid for Fenerbahce striker Sidiki Chérif. The 19-year-old forward is the subject of interest from top-flight English football.

While the specific club making the offer has not been named, previous reports suggest that either Ipswich Town or Coventry City are the most likely candidates. Earlier this August, journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu indicated that both of these sides were monitoring the player's progress during the summer transfer window.

Fenerbahce will likely seek a significant return on their investment in the young striker. The Turkish club paid a €4m loan fee for Chérif in January before completing a permanent transfer this summer for €18m. Any successful deal would need to account for these total costs.

Coventry City currently maintain a squad of forwards including Ellis Simms, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Haji Wright. Ipswich Town's attacking options consist of Chuba Akpom, Ali Al-Hamadi, George Hirst, and Emersonn, the latter of whom arrived from Toulouse for €28m.

It remains unclear which of the two clubs will move forward with the deal or what the specific financial terms of the offer entail. The identity of the bidding Premier League side remains undisclosed.
